Overview

GrabTabs is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how GrabTabs handles your data.

Data Collection

GrabTabs does not collect, store, or transmit any user data to external servers.

Local Storage

GrabTabs stores the following information locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API:

• User Preferences: Default output mode (Simple/Smart), default export format, and dark mode preference
• AI API Key: If you choose to use Smart mode, your AI provider API key is stored locally on your device
• Account Information: If you create an account for subscription services, your email and encrypted password are stored on our secure servers
• Subscription Data: Subscription status and usage statistics are stored on our servers for account management

All locally stored data remains on your device and is never transmitted to GrabTabs servers or any third-party servers, except for account and subscription data when using Pro/Premium subscriptions.

Subscription Services

When you subscribe to Pro or Premium plans:

• We store your email address and encrypted password for account authentication
• We track subscription status, billing period, and usage statistics
• Payment processing is handled by Paddle, a third-party payment processor
• We do not store your payment information (credit cards, etc.)
• Paddle's privacy policy applies to payment data: https://paddle.com/legal/privacy

AI Provider API Calls

When you enable Smart mode and provide an AI API key, GrabTabs makes API calls directly to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Grok). These calls:

• Are made directly from your browser to the AI provider's API
• Include only the tab titles and URLs you select to copy
• Are subject to the privacy policy of your chosen AI provider
• Are never routed through GrabTabs servers

When using Pro/Premium subscription Smart mode, API calls are routed through our backend servers using our shared API key. Tab data is processed by OpenAI and is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy.

Tab Information

GrabTabs accesses your browser tabs only to:

• Read tab titles and URLs when you explicitly click "Copy Tabs"
• Format this information for copying to your clipboard
• Process tab data locally in your browser or through our backend (for subscription users)

Tab information is never transmitted anywhere except when you explicitly use Smart mode (in which case it goes directly to your chosen AI provider or our backend for subscription users).

No Analytics or Tracking

GrabTabs does not:

• Collect analytics or usage statistics (except subscription usage for billing purposes)
• Use tracking cookies or pixels
• Send data to third-party analytics services
• Monitor your browsing behavior

Data Sharing

GrabTabs does not share any data with third parties except:

• Payment Processing: Payment data is shared with Paddle for subscription billing
• AI Processing: Tab data is sent to AI providers (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Grok) when using Smart mode
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view your account data through the extension settings
• Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time
• Local Data: You can clear all locally stored data by uninstalling the extension
• Preferences: You can reset your preferences through the settings page
• API Keys: Your API keys can be removed at any time through the settings page

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data:

• Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt hashing
• All API communications use HTTPS encryption
• Database connections are secured with SSL
• We regularly update our security practices

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Material changes will be communicated to users via email or extension notification.
